Curtiss Bumblebee postcard. Don: much appreciated looking at your collection of images and particularly the last Sept. Curtiss A-1 trials. Attached are images of an original Curtiss A-1 aircraft flown on Chautauqua lake in 1913/14 by an owner/pilot from Cleveland, Oh. named Al Engel. He flew one of the first US air mail routes between the Celoron Amusement Park on lake Chautauqua and Mayville, NY. He also was contracted by the Celoron park owners to perform flying off the lake and giving rides to amusement park patrons. These images were taken by the deceased father of one our deceased aircraft club members in Jamestown, NY. about 1913.
