Cutters Goose Lost Forever --- 2/15/2005 12:15 PM (WROC-TV) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Real to Reel 2004 theme was based on the 1982 television series Tales of the Gold Monkey. I regret to inform those who watched the short-lived series, that the aircraft used in the show, Cutters Goose, was destroyed in a crash today. This was also the aircraft on the front of each of your tees. Here's more: This morning N327 (msn 1051) aka "Cutter's Goose", the aircraft used in Tales of the Gold Monkey, was destroyed by fire in a forced landing in Yates County, New York. The pilot, Paul Middlebrook was not injured and his brother received only minor cuts and bruising. Video available here - broke my heart: http://www.wroctv.com/news/story.asp?id=16772&r=l Here's the News: Two survive plane crash in Yates County The investigation continues in Yates County after a plane crashed Tuesday morning. It happened around 9:30 a.m. on the Town of Milo. State Police tell NEWS 10NBC 60-year-old Paul Middlebrook and his 59-year-old brother Daryl were test flying a Grumman Wiggin G-21 aircraft. The plane took off from the Penn Yan airport around 9:00 a.m. and about a mile into the flight the pilots noticed trouble with the left engine and knew they had to get the plane back on the ground. “We heard the bang and then it skid across the field. When I first saw it I thought it was upside down thinking there's no way they got out. They're extremely lucky they could crawl out of there,” said witness Dale Hallings. The brothers were able to escape from the plane before it caught fire. Crews from four fire departments responded to the scene. They sprayed foam around the aircraft to prevent any leaking fuel from igniting. Federal investigators and New York State Police are trying to piece together exactly what happened. “At this point we have no reason to suspect anything other than engine problem,” said Sergeant Steven Neuberger from the New York State Police. Investigators believe the pilots experience saved their lives. Viewed: 59 times.
